Live the Life NWFL is a 501(c) 3 Non-Profit organization whose mission is to strengthen marriages and families. We are leading the effort to apply for a very exciting 5-year federal grant to help teach Bay County youth ages 10-24 how to have healthy relationships.  The grant would serve 3 primary age groups, 10-14 yrs (middle school), ages 15-19 (high school), and 20-24 (college/young adult).

This grant calls for a community saturation approach, with Healthy Relationship-focused Youth programs offered in at least three different settings where the programs would be offered – for example: houses of worship, schools, medical clinics, out-of-school / after-school programs, etc.

BAY COUNTY

The grant will serve local Bay County youth AND their parents by giving them the opportunity to experience multiple proven “evidence-based programs” focused on Healthy Relationships, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, and/or Positive Youth Development. Everybody involved will have the opportunity to help choose and implement these programs.

Here in Bay County, our young people have suffered tremendously with the 1-2 punch of Hurricane Michael and Covid 19.  As the table below indicates, Bay County has the HIGHEST Teen/Young people birth rates in the state (for counties with more than 100,000 population) in FOUR SEPARATE CATEGORIES:

Bay County's Teen/Youth Birth Rates are Highest in the State*

Simply Said, In Bay County:

  • Birth rates for mothers aged 10 to 14 are triple the national average

  • Birth rates for mothers aged 15 to 19 are double the national average

  • For all women aged 20 to 24 - 10% of that age group have babies each year, 70% of whom are unwed

We are looking for partners to consider signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the grant, which is a non-binding indication that if we are awarded the grant, you would consider partnering with us. You would not be committed at all to partnering, but your show of support will greatly aid in us securing this 5 year grant. If we are awarded the grant, those churches/organizations that signed MOAs during this grant application process, will receive the first right of refusal to participate in the project.

Organizations that partner with us in this grant will have the opportunity to be compensated for hosting, teaching, and referring others to the programs.

This grant calls for a community saturation approach, with at least three settings including schools, houses of worship, medical clinics, out-of-school/after school programs, alternative schools, the juvenile justice system, military bases, the foster care system – any place that has access to youth ages 10 to 24 and/or their parents.
